Will Trump Return to Twitter? Elon Musk asks Twitter users to vote in a poll
Twitter News from Elon Musk: Despite all the chaos Twitter is experiencing, including mass firings, mass rehirings, and mass resignations, Elon Musk shows no signs of slowing down.
He started a Twitter poll today asking users if they think former US President Donald Trump’s account should go back to him.
Twitter had to suspend Trump’s account last year “due to danger of further encouragement of violence” after his supporters stormed US Capitol during recognition of Democrat Joe Biden’s victory as president.
Elon Musk fired Vijaya Gadde (a top Twitter legal policy and policy executive) shortly after he took over the company.
The poll has received over 7 million votes with 52.9% of respondents voting “yes” as of 15 hours ago.
Musk also used the Latin phrase “Vox Populi Vox Dei” in a tweet that he posted in the same thread. This loosely translated to “The voice of God is the voice of the people.”
Trump has declared that he will run for the US presidency in 2024. Trump’s Twitter reinstatement will play a significant role in his candidacy.

He also announced that the accounts for comedian Kathy Griffin, psychologist Jordan Peterson and conservative parody site Babylon Bee had been reinstated.
Griffin’s account was suspended after she changed her name from Griffin to Elon Musk. Griffin was accused by Elon Musk of impersonating. Musk previously stated that Griffin would be allowed to return to the site if she paid the $8 fee for the new Twitter Blue feature. Griffin has over two million followers on twitter.
Jordan Peterson’s Twitter account was shut down in June after he tweeted about Elliot Page, transgender actor, and it violated the site’s hateful conduct rules. Peterson said that he would rather die than remove the post which criticized transgender people’s right.
The Babylon Bee was banned on Twitter in March after it posted misgendering Rachel Levine’s posts. Levine is a trans woman who served as the United States’ assistant secretary for health.
Jorden Peterson, Kathie Griffin and Babylon Bee were reinstated.
Trump has yet to make a decision.
