Friends With Benefits (FWB), a well known decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), announced Thursday on Twitter that it was launching a social networking app. Friends With Benefits was established in 2021 with the intent of creating a social network that is passionate about Web3 adoption, education, and support. The company raised $10 million with the help from a16z, a cryptocurrency venture firm, in September 2021 to expand its global network. Previously, the company established its community via a token-gated Discord channel. Friends With Benefits wrote that the app will allow users to communicate with each other, read governance proposals, find upcoming events, and more.
“Our social platform is not meant to be used by millions of people as quickly as possible. Instead, it is a human-scaled piece software that optimizes for positive group dynamics and digital socializing, meaning-making, and hanging out.”
To sign up for the app, members must have 75 FWB tokens (equivalent to approximately $800).
