Recently, FTX asked Congress members to return funds donated from Sam Bankman-Fried or other FTX executives. Waters is one of few Congressmen who received political donations by Sam Bankman-Fried.

Maxine Waters calls for urgent resolution of the FTX case and Sam Bankman Fried’s testimony
Maxine Waters, Ranking Member, wrote a February 10 letter to Patrick McHenry (Chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services) to request that Sam Bankman-Fried testify before the committee. She also encourages bipartisan cooperation to end the FTX collapse.
Patrick McHenry wrote to Gary Gensler earlier in the week, asking for all records regarding the coordinated investigation with U.S. DOJ. McHenry gave Gensler a two-week deadline to submit all records.
The U.S. House Committee on Financial Services oversees the U.S. SEC, the U.S. Federal Reserve and the Department of the Treasury’s work, as well as other financial services regulators.

Waters asks McHenry immediately to ensure that all FTX and Alameda executives are present at a congressional hearing in order to end their process on the FTX crisis. She also wants to take the necessary steps to pass bipartisan legislation that protects investors, and prevents another failure such as FTX.

Under John Ray III, the new CEO of FTX, FTX sent confidential letters to politicians that received campaign donations totaling almost $93 Million from Sam Bankman Fried and other FTX executives. Maxine Waters, a congresswoman, was one of those who received donations from Sam Bankman Fried for political campaigns.
Other FTX news: Sam Bankman-Fried and federal prosecutors reached a deal regarding Sam Bankman Fried’s use of encrypted messaging apps, and communications with former FTX employees.
