Regulatory issues drove cryptocurrency values lower once more, with Paxos and the New York Department of Financial Services going toe-to-toe and Binance USD (BUSD) suffering the consequences.According to Coinmarkeycap statistics, Bitcoin was down 1.3% on the day and was trading at about $21,609 at the time of writing. Paxos’s order to cease issuing the BUSD stablecoin caused the market leader cryptocurrency to plummet. It briefly fell to $21,400, before recovering. The New York regulator issued the order “as a result multiple unresolved problems connected to Paxos’ monitoring of Binance’s connection.”
It is important that Paxos was authorized by the Department to issue BUSD on Ethereum. Binance-Peg BUSD has not been authorized by the Department on any blockchain. Binance-Peg BUSD cannot be issued by Paxos. Existing Paxos-issued USD by DFS-licensed entities are not currently prohibited from being listed or exchanged in New York.
