In September, it was rumored Yuga Labs, a NFT giant, was working on a new NFT Collection called “Mecha Apes”, with a possible introduction at year’s end.
Mecha Apes Launch Announced
This appears to be true with Yuga Lab’s Community Manager Alexei Koseff sharing in a Tweet that the NFT giant will release the highly anticipated “Mecha Apes”, by December this year.
Alexei also announced that a new, blockchain-based gaming platform would be launched parallel to Mecha Apes. It will be powered via their native token Apecoin.

According to Alexei’s tweet, Yuga Labs has opened their whitelist for users in order to register and secure their positions in the upcoming NFT Drop.
Steep Decline In NFT Sales
Recent trends have seen a sharp drop in trading volumes at NFTs. It fell 97% from a record-breaking January to $466 million in September. OpenSea, the largest NFT trading platform in volume, saw a 75% drop in sales compared to two months ago.
The nascent NFT Market was able to benefit from cryptocurrency price gains in 2021 and high-risk appetite of investors in 2022. However, these conditions have changed dramatically in 2022 as investors have been forced to abandon risky assets such as digital assets due to central bank’s rate rise and the recent FTX saga.
Can this trigger an NFT pump?
Yuga Labs is a NFT powerhouse with notable projects like Bored Ape Yacht Club, Bored Ape Kennel Club, and “The Otherside”, so all eyes are now on Yuga Labs to bring back NFT to its former glory through the launch of its products.
The firm recently acquired the IP rights to “CryptoPunks”, which was once considered to be its largest competitor to BAYC.
